MINNEAPOLIS – Feb. 3, 2015 – Kroll Ontrack, a leading provider of ediscovery and data recovery data recovery products and services, today announced that one year after the launch of, including Review and Relativity, adoption rates are supporting a record number of ediscovery projects. In fact, the number of new projects started in 2014 is up 36 percent and the number of active matters is up 10 percent over the previous year. Review
With the launch of Review, 326 TB of data have been processed and replicated and more than 170 million documents have been loaded for review. Built to give clients direct and unprecedented control of data volumes and costs, innovative features such as nearline storage and document format control are keeping databases nimble and lean. For example, 41 percent of Review users are leveraging nearline storage to put aside irrelevant or non-critical data at 50 percent the cost of active data. By initially uploading only text and metadata, and letting clients choose whether they need to create TIFF or native file formats, clients reduced their hosted volume and subsequent costs by more than 85 percent.

“ Review is my favorite review tool because of its powerful and versatile search and data control features,” said National Ediscovery Counsel Ralph Losey, Jackson Lewis. “ Review has very effective active machine learning features - predictive coding - that mesh well with the other search and review features and give me the ability to easily implement the multimodal approach. In addition, with the innovative nearline feature, I have the ability to set aside data my clients don’t need to reduce their review costs and focus their review on the most relevant information.”

Relativity by Kroll Ontrack
Since becoming a Relativity Premium Hosting Partner in February 2014, Kroll Ontrack has added projects at a monthly compounded rate of 39 percent and hosted data at a monthly compounded rate of 76 percent. Adoption of Relativity from Kroll Ontrack is driven by Kroll Ontrack’s customized early case assessment (ECA) workflow, case management portal and dedicated consulting team. Specifically, using the ECA workflow, clients have been able to quickly and effectively cull non-relevant materials and focus their review, saving an average of 80 percent on their ediscovery projects. Further, by leveraging the case management portal, clients can upload, track and share case-related documents (including version control), contacts and calendars in one central repository to facilitate better coordination and collaboration internally among law firms or externally with a client’s counsel or third-parties.

“Kroll Ontrack has gained significant ground with the launch of because customers truly value the ability to use the tool of their choice from a company they trust,” said Dave Alampi, senior vice president of product management and marketing, Kroll Ontrack. “With this platform, we’ve focused on giving users unprecedented process and cost controls through market differentiated features, such as nearlining and real-time, user-driven data format conversion in Review, and ECA workflow in Relativity.”
